Adding weight?

n1slumer 05.07.2012, 18:17
Where is the best place to add weight in a race car?? I need to add about 100 pounds to my car and was wondering where you guys put it and how you do it.

Depends on the car, power, what it acts like at the track, and how it scales.

That's a million $$ question! This is where testing comes into play, every car is different. But there are 'general' rules to apply which Pat is talking about.

I'm just wondering where you guys are putting it, and how you are mounting/ securing the weight in the car. Front bumper, rear bumper, in between the rear shock towers? What should i use for the actual weight? I know I'll have to test and move weight around to fine tune the car. The car scaled 49% front and 51% rear I think, and weighs 2975.

maybe put it right on the nose, and it'll keep your rear bumper off the pavement, lolstickpoke

Josh had Steve weld tabs EVERYWHERE and it gets moved all the time. The weight bars are 2x3 filled with lead and all the tabs where placed so the weight can be moved anywhere in the car. Give your self options and go test. Tires, track, ect all play a role where it gets put. What works in his car WON'T work in yours, especially if your car scaled @ 49/51..

Lol @ 49/51 the nose would be a very good idea.

I'd double check those percentages...most foxes are way nose heavy...

and yea my car has about 18 tabs welded in the interior of it alone...let alone other places...

It might of been the other way around lol. I'll figure something out.

If the car works really well right now and 60's are consistent, add the weight in a neutral area, like the down bars behind both seats. But make some mounting tabs else where, because if you venture outside of where your typically racing now you'll be glad you did.

Dont add it to the front if you haven't put any limiters on the front end IMO....... Especially if it's working right now. Limiters then add weight. But that's just me.
