trevnut 02.07.2011, 19:43 Well time to start a new project and have a lil progress thread along with it. I always wanted to build a 99-04 mustang but could never find one straight enough for a good price to buy. Plus i never thought i could get one light enough to be fast either. Its easier to make more power now to make up for the lil extra weight, so..... I decided to go on a hunt for one again. I looked for quite a while, even considered buying a running v6 cheap as long as it was straight. I wanted Dark Blue or White. My search turned nothing up worth a damn. 180,000 mile v6's are still bringing $3000+ and none were the color i wanted. Then one day a straight white GT plopped in my lap, so i snagged it up. I drug it home on the trailer pushed it off and the tear down began.
My plan is to put a pushrod motor in it, possibly mini-tub it and a moly cage. Im going to put a 03/04 cobra rear bumper on it, 03/04 side skirts, 99/01 cobra front bumper and some sort of cowl hood.
I want it to look like this from the side..
....
Here is a front look at what i want.... im on the fence on how it looks with the center painted black.
.... trevnut 02.07.2011, 19:50 Here is how i picked the car up. the fr's were already mine.
....
I wasted no time striping her down.
.... .... .... .... .... trevnut 02.07.2011, 20:00 The mystic side skirts got here. i guess noone needs that color, they were cheap!! The rear bumper also was a dirt cheap snag, just have to paint it the right white now. Im sure people will bring the when i drill a hole in the center of it for a chute mount too. I remounted the spoiler to get the keyhole to line up correctly. Bogarts!!! .... .... .... .... trevnut 02.07.2011, 20:07 I started taking the interior apart to scrape the sound damping material off the floor and to remove all unnecessary wiring and weight i can. It got hot quick this morning so i quit. Im basically gonna remove everything i can and wire the car myself. I cant wait to see how the cage turns out in this thing.
....
.... trevnut 02.07.2011, 20:10 So far, just in seats and under the hood items the car has lost roughly 250lbs. Im sure there is plenty more to lose. Im going to keep a log of all the weight that is lost and try to keep track of what i put back in it. 97Cobra 02.07.2011, 20:50 Great start on the build...I have wanted to do one of these myself. How long do you expect the build to take? Nice project.
I have been thinking about doing the same for quite sometime, but never had the initiative Looks like it will be awesome! Can't wait to see the end result! I have a really clean 99 GT roller that I've been wanting to do that with, just don't have the funds right now so it sits in my garage. I've almost thought about giving up and selling it. jrhaden 02.07.2011, 22:37 Gonna be awesome trev. Looks awesome..one day I'll get mine painted, till then I will just drool on yours.. n1slumer 02.07.2011, 23:15 Sweet build mang. We should start a thread on the guesstimate!!! trevnut 03.07.2011, 04:49 Thanks everyone! I really want this thing to turn out Top Notch. I'm gonna go above and beyond anything i have ever done before to try and make sure it is.
How long do you expect the build to take?
Not sure on exact release date. This one is gonna take a lil while.
Trying to figure out if i wanna do a NA/5spd deal that i can spray every once in a while for fun, a nitrous/c4 combo or a turbo/c4 como.
Whats the weight est.? completed
We should start a thread on the guesstimate!!!
I realize i wont be able to get this to a fox weight but i have a number in mind if i end up with a non-turbo car.
I dont think enough people care about it to start a guesstimate thread though. 88supergt 03.07.2011, 05:50 freakkin love it on D 10's oneslowfox 03.07.2011, 05:54 Subscribed. Similar Threads |
