about to buy some 17X10.5 for my cobra and cant decide whether to buy some drag radials or street tires. im not worried about the price of them just cant decide whether putting a drag radial on a daily driven car is a good idea or not.

I have some 305/35/18 nittos 555r on my car. They lasted quite a while in my last car I used them on. They are not the best from a dig, but if your rolling at all they are fine. I got 10-12000 miles out of my 245/50/16's. I hope these last that long.

Yer i was thinking the nittos but not the nt05

im prety sure 335 is to wide and ill start rubbing. i think 315 fits either with a small spacer or low profile suspension bolts.

Your right, a 315 on a 17 will hit. A 315 on a 18 will clear no problems.

so does a wheel spacer take care of a 315 on a 17, or is a 305 a better idea. 305 seem like they are an odder tire size.

Could just grind the bolt head down a bit.

just run the 305.. put it on and be done.. but i have also ran the 315 on a 17 and didnt rub.. if it does rub just buy the low profile IRS bolt.. but the best mod for it to clear is SRA..

Was it a 17x10.5 or a 17x9? thats where the problem happens. When i had my 17x10.5 with a 315 it rub a bit but not bad but still had rub markes.

I run a 315 on 10.5 low profile bolts, with no issues.Running 555R like them quite a bit but not the best track tire but a good compromise.
lxhatch302 23.06.2011, 02:47
remember tho the nitto 555r is a lot smaller than any other DR tire...a 305 is really close to a 295....ive heard the NT05s are a lot better...

But id go with some MT's or Hoosiers....never cared for nittos

well im wanting it for street purposes and the ocasioanly track use. and its a 10.5 wheel im getting. i have seen those low profile bolts, im installing lowering springs too so i guess i will be righ tthere to replace it anyway. Im hoping the car will look good with 10.5 cobra wheel sout back and lowered on H&R race springs. im hoping its not to low. my drive way is a little bumpy and dont really want to scrap.

its not the fender thats the problem its the bolt that holds the irs in that rubs the tire and sometimes the lip of the rim.
