Got an idea for a budget build 2.3...

Well, my dad has a couple of circle track 2.3 motors sitting around gathering rust. Not real sure what all is done to them as far as rotating assembly goes. But they both have a little headwork done. One of them has a fairly radical circle track cam in it. Anyway, I have been kicking around the idea of freshening up one of these motors and putting my nitrous kit from my GT on it. I have a '92 coupe to put it in, so it won't weigh much.

My biggest concerns are the transmission and converter, currently a 2.3 AOD, and how much nitrous the bottom end could handle.

I think it would be fun to run in the 12.0 index races with my little 'ol beater 4 cylinder! Anyone else ever built a 2.3 to run with nitrous? I'd rather not go turbo, kinda want to do something a little different than everyone else.

as long as it has forged pistons and maybe rods i don't see why it couldn't hold it. those circle track 2.3's can take some abuse. just don't get it hot.

i can't remember who, i think dozerjoe or someone, sprayed a shitload to one trying to blow it up and it wouldn't do it.. just tore up the tranny.

I put an unregulated nitrous line in the intake of one i had several years ago and and it spun pretty hard for a sec then backfired the intake off. New bolts and it was good to go drove it for another 2 years before i sold it to a circle track guy. I was very abusive to this motor on a daily basis.

Talk to Zac (93reefnotch). He sprayed down everything he owned back in the day. I'm pretty sure a 2.3 was one of them.

For sure! Think it would be interesting though to see a 4 blown.
