Figured I'd start a discussion on this.

Advantages? Disadvantages? differences? Factory ratings? If you feel like it, drop any info you have on these motors in here. I know very little about the 427 SOHC. My understanding is that its a standard 427 with the cam hole blocked off?

places like genisis have started producing timing chain kits and cylinder heads for fe guys that allow the ohv version of the 427 to adapt to the ohc but i dont think its as cost effective as staying with a ohv FE 427. Boss 429 is a TOTALLY different motor as it is a 385 series motor, basically a de-stroked 460. The 385 series stuff is ALOT cheaper to build than FE stuff. Standard 429 is a 2 bolt main while the FE is a 4 bolt main with side jack screws, making it ALOT stronger. The motors are so different, you might as well compare a Ls1 to a 4.6

427 worth about $20,000.
BOSS 429 about under $10,000.
